For almost 30 years I have been deeply involved in writing about human rights and social justice,  first in Texas, then nationally. I have been a Middle East Country Specialist for Amnesty International, a campaigner for repealing capital punishment and ending the prosecution of children as if they were adults, a mobilization manager with Churches for Middle East Peace, and an advocate for scientists and scholars facing human rights abuses around the world .

Over these years of communications and campaigning it has become clear to me that a more peaceful and better world requires a respect for ALL human rights, and a commitment to human rights for ALL people. From the most vulnerable children to the most accomplished scholars – ALL are human beings entitled to protection from torture, unfair trials, and execution, and to healthy childhoods, educational opportunities, and academic freedom.
